Mets’hafe Se’atat (መጽሐፈ ሰዓታት), also known as the Book of Hours, is a key liturgical prayer book in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. It contains a cycle of canonical prayers assigned to different hours of the day and night, including the Morning (Prime), Third Hour, Sixth Hour, Ninth Hour, Evening, and Midnight prayers. Modeled after Psalm 119:164 (“Seven times a day I praise you”), it guides the faithful in offering regular devotion throughout the day, drawing them closer to God through structured prayer and reflection.
